Q: How is your price determined?
Victoria Gold pays as much as 90% of the melt value of your gold. This is much higher than most jewellery stores, pawn shops, infomercial gold buyers, and online mail-in services, which typically offer 20-60% of melt value. Our rates are directly connected to the spot price of gold and silver and updated daily. If you are happy with our offer to purchase, we will pay you cash on the spot.
Q: You say you pay more than other gold buyers. How do you do that?
• We chose to be a person-to-person local business not a retail store.
• We’re a 100% Canadian business, family-owned and operated from home in Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island. This keeps expenses down and we pass these savings on to our customers—at least 2 or 3 times more than other gold buyers in the market.
• Because we are in the mining business, we already have a great volume discount established with the biggest refinery in Western Canada.
Q: How do you pay?
When you are satisfied with the quote we give you for your items, we will pay you cash for your gold and other precious metals on the spot. No hidden commissions or fees. No charge for stone removal, if required.

Q: Can you get the stones out of my jewellery?
Yes, we will remove most stones and return them to you.
Q: How can I tell if my stuff is pure gold or just plated?
Great question. Most pure gold jewellery is stamped with the karat purity. Gold-plated items on the other hand are commonly stamped GP, KP, HGE, RGP, GE, or GF. Sometimes we test by using a magnet as gold is not magnetic but the base metal on some plated items will be. Note: Brass is used as the base metal in some jewellery and it is not magnetic either.
